The Alpha hoist series has often been referred to as the Mercedes or
Cadillac of Hoist. With superior engineering design these hoist have
been the stalwart of the industry ever since they replace the “work
horse” Model 4. The Alpha series boast a unique traction mechanism
which allows the wire rope to enter with out friction and then squeezes
the rope to attain the lifting traction. Coupled with a highly efficient
gearbox this combination has been a true success in meeting users needs.
This series is offered in many variations to fit the needs of different

The Compact
hoist Series is the latest series offered by Sky Climber. Having
the same type highly efficient gearbox, the compact was designed
to be much lighter in weight yet have the same durability as the
Alpha. Many users prefer the compact because of its reduced weight
and lower cost.

Sky Lock
The Sky Lock is an overspeed safety
device. It acts as a brake in emergency situations e.g. breaking
of a suspension rope or failure of hoist or motor. The Sky Lock
is used in combination with Sky Climber hoists and acts on the
suspension rope, safety line or both. Sky Locks can be purchased
separately from hoists, but all hoists are sold with a Sky Lock
included.
A Sky Lock is activated or tripped
when:
- overspeed is sensed
- manually activated
- sudden movement on platform is
detected
- vibrations are detected
- reeving too rapidly
- steel wire rope is damaged
